    Hey, marquetta
i wanted to ask you about a product i got off of u-tube, about growing your hair while braided
in micros, alady said she use, MEGA-TEX REBUILDER,AND VATIKA COCONUT OIL,
I was wondering about the mega-tex and what you think, or could you give me some good product ideas,
to grow my hair longer and thicker?????
  • jecinter
well that is fantastic keep up the good work we love you and all your ideas.
  • sharonsears
Hi Marquetta, i finally got the chance to sit down and watch your videos and, I liked the topic about decision making about hair for braids. i enjoy braiding hair and wanted to know a little bit more. When you were discussing the difference in the price, immediately, I picked the cheapest hair that you had shown. there is something about the hair when it is wet that helps to make a decision i think too. The hair rhythm is something difinaetly to take into consideration. I live in Fort Lauderdale Fla. and at every cornner or so, there is a beauty supply store. and most braiding hair is synthetic and starts at $1.00 or more. So really i would have chosen the cheapest hair, not because of what goes on here with the hair for braiding, but because i graduated from cosmetolgy school and i am a licensed cosmetologist under the state. Also I am interested in purchasing hair videos from you ! You my contact me back at my web at
ShrnSrs@yahoo.com or I will keep this video and call you once I get the chance to. Thank you!
  • Bernice

I think the idea to get your own website was fantastic. You are an inspiration to women of color and to any woman who want to have their own business and become successful at it. I watched the interview you had with the author of Dead Weight. The book sounds very interesting and I'm looking forward to purchasing and reading it. My question to you is "Were do someone like me sign up to make sure that the main character's name is cleared all charges.
  • Yolandah

  • K. Wheeless
Hey Quet! That was a Great Introduction! That's awesome to open your blogs to life discussions as well......even more interesting!! Good luck with your hair braiding business, I'm sure you'll continue to do well!!!!
  • aminathorne
Now what is the best way to get a sew in weave...can you do it if you have lenght in front but its short in the back?/ And whats the best style to get if you get a sew in with the back tapered??
  • It all depends on the style you're going for. If you want a sew-in style with short hair you can definitely rock a cute short sew-in leaving the back out, or you can always have the back bonded. If you're going to get the back bonded, I suggest molding it first (like for a quick-weave) then bonding the tracks. Doing this will minimize breakage during removal.

The best style...I'd probably go with a cute short bob until the back starts to get long enough to grab. Really it all depends on my mood for that day! LOL
  • aminathorne
I think this was a great idea.....what I like is you dont stay content with where you are, you always want to do better and see room for improvement. You make new goals every time you accomplish one and this is great......I look forward to this and I love it!!!!!!!
  • Hi Marquetta.

Really looking forward to your video's on here. I feel that although my Hair Braiding has halted in Norfolk, UK recently due to the Recession. I still believe that keeping up to date with your skills is vital. You are my mentor and I would not want to let you down in anyway. Plus it nice hearing about other things you do. Look forward to new horizons with you and all your fellow fans out there like me! Take care. Angie x
  • fisherr
I have micro braids in how long can you leave them if you keep your hair maintained.
  • Teresia
I think this is WONDERFUL!!! Can't wait to tune in! Keep up the good work!!!
  • By the way I'm loving the hair for this video. It looks very natural. I know that you are most like promoting your Vellusia Hair line. LOL... Great job! PS...I know this may sound personal but I just wanted to know if it's a sew-in or bonded weave. If you'd like you can comment personally by emailing me at braidsbyjay@yahoo.com

    Thank you
  • LOL! There's no shame in my game! This is a sew-in weave that I did about a month ago. You're right, I'm wearing Vellusia Remy Hair, that's the only hair I wear for my weaves. www.vellusiaremyhair.com is where you can find it. The length I'm wearing in the video is 20" and the color is natural black. I have a think for long hair!
  • Good Day Ms. Marquetta! Glad to see the continual success of your business and it's movement in the pictorial blogging arena. I'm one of your first Insider Member since you first created it. I know that it would be a great video to consider in general and for you blog. Thanks for creating this braiding empire which is helping my business as well.

I also pulled milk out of my diet, but I still do eat cheese and other dairy products. I also take Juice Plus which is the next best thing to real fruits and vegetables. hey marquetta, i purchased your 4 n one hairstyles, and i was wondering if u had videos that teach you one on one brading. i love this site. im a first time braider and i cant quite get the concept. i know it takes tyme, i even been practing on my kids. its a disater, but im still trying. do u have any more suggestions for me. i even went to a private braider and she wanted to charge me 600 for 6 hours to give me one on one train. now that was nuts to me. to make a long story short help. thank you and have a blessed day.
  • GiGi,

It does take time. I wish I had taken pictures of the first time I braided someone's hair. The term 'Hott Mess" would have been a compliment to what mess I created on top of her head! LOL Where do you think you're having the main issue? The attachment? Preparing the hair?
  • sharmine1

Thank you so much for such an honest question! I'm not sure about anyone else, but I've never experienced this. Have you consulted with your doctor?

    hello mrs.breslin,
thank you for including me in your email. that means alot and thank you. i would like to know when will you do another sale like you done before? and when you do hair do you have any problems with your hands when you do braids or any kind of weaves?
    thanks,
    shantel bryant, north carolina
  • Shantel,

Which Sale are you referring to? I do have 2 new DVDs getting ready to come out in the next 2 weeks. The titles are 10 Styles For Your Child and Weave Compilation: Vol 3.

I do have issues with my hands cramping and sometimes even swelling during braiding. To prevent this from happening as much as possible I make sure to take breaks and exercise my writst and fingers. It sounds silly, but you'll be surprised how much it helps! :-)
  • I never met a Millionare. You are a walking, Talking Millionare. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for including me into your expanison.. i have one question to ask you, i braid hair i dont charge big prices but i still feel like my clients still dont take me serious because i am not licensed in braiding. i wanted to get my license in october, but things have come up to delay it.. But in the meantime how do get my clients to take me serious with payments and paying the full amount. i even had a person sit in my chair and get their hair braided say they didnt like it just so they dont wont pay me the full amount or i have had someone sit for 9 hours for micros then tell me they only have a 3rd of the money. i dont want to raise my prices because i have other clients that dont mind my inexpensive prices, what do i do to rectify this situation. A friend suggest that i get the money from the door..
  • I'm so sorry you're going through this. Your friend has a great suggestion. Another thing you can do is collect the full amount halfway through the style, but if you do this you need to let that individual know in advance this is how you will collect. If they have any questions, you can just explain to them that you've had problem in the past, and this is the fairest way for both parties to be satisfied. Let us know what you decide and how this works out for you! Good luck!
  • EHargraves
You are such a HUGE blessing Marqauetta! I just want you to know that!

How do you feel about the ne tape hair extensions. I recently paid $1000.00 for them and in 2weeks they were coming out. Within 2weeks I had to pay $250 to get them back in. Plus with my rregular 2wk wash & set at $65. Can you research aand tell me what's the best adhesive for this process. I learned to do this process now for myself . I have paid $1400 dollars in 5 weeks and they are coming out again. Please help.
  • Tape extensions? It sounds like you're referring to the skin weft extensions with the adhesive on the back of them. Am I correct?

  • juany
Hi NL, it is more than likely your system. What you need to do is let it play though... you will see the bar moving slowly like it is going, but just let it go and when it get almost to the end hit the play again and it will keep playing for you. I get this on some sites myself and YES! it can be very annoying. But again, 9 times out of 10 it is your system. Hope this helps!
