I read a statistic the other day that said at least 30 million women suffer from thinning hair, or some degree of hair loss.
Shocking!
I have to say I get more and more emails about this every day and I cannot help but wonder how stylists are handling this.
There are several different ways to handle it on the technical side…
Integration Pieces
Sew In Weaves
Lace Closure
Lace Frontal
Products
Each method is obviously different for each type of client. Some products work, but that all depends on the cause of the hair loss.
If it's caught early enough you may be able to save the hair and possibly re- grow that area.
Solutions are great and thank God there are a lot of options these days, but what concerns me is how this information is delivered to the client.
I was sitting in a salon one day when a lady was being serviced by a stylist.
“OMG Girl your hair is coming out in clumps!”
I turned around real quick to find the stylist standing in front of the client with a comb full of hair and a scary look on her face.
I then looked at the lady when the tears started to roll down her face.
That stylist just embarrassed her client and possibly lost her for good!
As stylists we have an image, and a certain amount of professionalism we must live up to.
It's very important to always be understanding and caring when delivering startling news like hair loss to a client.
I talk about professionalism a lot in my Million Dollar Stylist program.
It's extremely important in our industry. Yes, we're taught how to be professional, but is it practiced?
This is why I developed a training plan for my Salon, to train the up and coming stylists how to handle clients that could potentially get embarrassed by such news.
I put that same training plan inside The Million Dollar Stylist Vault to share with others.
The little things count big time!
Be blessed,
