32 Minute Blow Out (Pics Inside)

Yesterday evening I received an automated us of Picture Day today.

It was around 6:45pm when I received the phone call.

“Oh crap! Tomorrow is picture day,” I said.

My daughter ran in the room…she heard me.

“Mom, can I please have my hair straightened for pictures,” she asked.

It was late and I didn't want to tell her no, so I said, “Sure!”

What did I get myself into? LOL

Right after I said it I realized it was too late to go to the salon to get my best tools, but I keep a backup of my “sub-par” tools at the house.

I like to use those to challenge myself from time to time and stay on top of my game.

I had to put my thinking cap on. I thought to myself…

“With sub-par tools and not the best products for a blow out, what can I pull together to do a quick blow out that looks like she spent all day in the salon?”

By this time it was 7:30 and I had to figure out something before bedtime.

“Okay Nya here's what we're going to do:

1. I need you to shampoo your hair in the shower with your Deva Curl No Poo “shampoo”.

2. Condition your hair with Moroccan Oil Weightless Hydrating conditioning treatment and let it sit on your hair for a few minutes…”

Yes, I was talking to my 9 year old like she was an assistant in the salon.

It has taken me a while to teach her how to care for her hair.

My though process behind this was to make sure the hair was properly cleaned and conditioned prior to applying heat.

After she did this I let her hair air dry.

By the time it was all said and done she was 95% dry and SUPER curly!

I hit the timer to see just how long it'd take me…

I applied a small amount of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum.

I then took a low heat blow dryer with a vent brush, sectioned her hair just like I demonstrate in my Styling Secrets DVD and pulled out her curls to get this…

WOWZERS! LOL

Before I flat ironed her hair I applied some more skinny serum because I wanted it a little heavy since I didn't have my blow out products.

I started sectioning her hair in medium sections from the back and worked my way up to the front.

The key to doing this the CORRECT way is to use a heat resistant comb just like I demonstrated in the styling secrets DVD.

With curly hair this is the ONLY way to ensure the hair is perfectly straight from roots to ends.

Once I completed the flat ironing process I grabbed my shears and trimmed off the dead ends of her hair using the zero degree technique I teach in Cutting Mastery.

Here's what I got…

When I hit STOP on the timer it took me exactly 32:34 to do her blow out!

Why?

Well the truth is when you know how to use your tools (even if they are sub-par) you can do amazing things!

That's why I finally came out with Cutting Mastery & Styling Secrets.

I wanted to teach others how to work with tools. When you know what to use and when to use them, you will save yourself time and money!

The proof is in the pudding!

Cutting Mastery & Styling Secrets are both available right now. Once they sell out you will not be able to get your hands on this again until 2014!

Be blessed,
