How To Make A Mold For A Full Lace Wig (Video 📽)

Happy Hump Day!!! I can't believe in 9 days, Lace Wig University will be closing for enrollment for 2022, but in this email, I wanted to share with you how to make a mold for a full lace wig.

I developed this approach to making molds for wigs years ago when I first started making Lace Wigs from scratch, and it has never failed me.

All you need is saran wrap, scotch tape, and a permanent marker. In the video below, I had some of my students who graduated from one of my mentorship programs come over to do some interviews, and while they were here, we filmed this video demonstrating that technique.

You can watch the video below.

Since filming this, I've updated this technique and made it even better. It's taught inside Lace Wig University!

Enrollment closes on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 12:00am PST. Don't miss out!

God bless,

Here's Who I Use For Bookkeeping 2

Here’s Who I Use For Bookkeeping

Last nights live was one for the books! (Watch it here.) Last night someone asked me a question about financials for business, and I mentioned who I use for bookkeeping, so I decided to write this email to you today.

It's that time of year again, tax time. And this is one of those emails that you'll look back on in a few years and say, “Marquetta changed my life with that one.”

I've been running businesses for going on 19 years now, and what I'm about to recommend to you can dramatically remove stress from your life when it comes to your finances. I know it did mine.

One of the biggest moves I made in my business is moving from a local bookkeeper for my bookkeeping to a company called Bench. Think of Bench as a “Cloud Bookkeeper” but with real people. Everything is faster and easier.

They do bookkeeping and tax filing, but I use them purely for bookkeeping. This is the fourth year I've used Bench, and like clockwork, my books get done flawlessly every month.

The only thing I do some months, which takes about 3 minutes, is log in to Bench to do some light categorization if the team at Bench doesn't know where an expense may go. But over time, they even master that.

Here are my three favorite things about Bench:

Favorite Thing #1:
I can send a message to my bookkeeping team 24/7!

Here's Who I Use For Bookkeeping 3

As you can see in the screenshot above, it's easy to communicate with your Bench team. And the best part is, I've asked my team some pretty complicated questions, and my main bookkeeper Steven will go to his team and get an answer if he doesn't know. This is invaluable!

Favorite Thing #2:
Every month like clockwork, I get my P&Ls, Balance Sheet, etc.!

Here's Who I Use For Bookkeeping 4

As you see in the screenshot, I click on the “Accounting” tab to the left, and then from there, I can download all the documents I'll ever need for the business at any time.

Favorite Thing #3:
The “End of Year” Package

At the end of each year, we get an “End of Year” package. This package is a miracle. It is a perfectly put-together package that I simply hand to my CPA, and he has everything he needs to do our taxes. Last year it took under two hours to do our business and personal taxes because of this package.

If you're ready to move on from your local bookkeeper, or if you're still doing your own bookkeeping, it's worth checking out Bench.

You can save 30% off your first three months with Bench by clicking here.

I'm an affiliate of Bench and promote them heavily because I believe in and use their service. I'll never promote anything I don't personally use.

Be blessed,
Maquetta Breslin

“We Produce Over 40 Closures A Day”

Back in 2017, I met an amazing young lady who flew to Las Vegas for my 3-Day Lace Wig Marketing Bootcamp!

"We Produce Over 40 Closures A Day" 6

She was very attentive, and I remember seeing how focused she was. Later on, she tagged me in her work, and I followed her journey through Instagram.

"We Produce Over 40 Closures A Day" 7

In the middle of last month, I saw a post about how she set up a 40 person factory for her staff! I was completely blown away!

She purchased the Lace Wig Training System, consumed the entire course, attended the live event, and went home and implemented everything she learned!

Here's what she said about her journey…

She got so busy that she had too many orders to keep up, so she set up a factory. Not only did she do that, but she also trained her entire staff, who had no prior knowledge of ventilating at all, and neither did she before my training.

This is what happens when you implement everything you learn from what I teach you. With the upcoming Lace Wig University, you're not just learning how to make wigs; you're also learning how to market your services and have clients coming back for life!

Be sure you're tuned in to all of my emails and all social media channels. Lace Wig University is almost ready to launch, and you cannot afford to miss out on everything I've created for you!

With this training, you're getting an entire business handed to you to set up and run, just like my student Ewere did. This training can change your life if you let it. Don't miss out.

I Helped Her Make Over $50K With Custom Wigmaking 8

I Helped Her Make Over $50K With Custom Wigmaking

One of the best feelings you get as a teacher and mentor is the feeling of seeing the success of the people you've worked with.

Seeing the growth in people who come to you at the beginning stages of their career unsure of what to expect, scared of failing, yet vulnerable and willing to let you do what you do best is amazing to me.

I almost always see things in them they don't see in themselves, and it's my job to bring that out, to show them themselves the way God sees them. When they finally step into their calling, and they are flourishing, that's when I know I've done my job. It's a fantastic thing to see.

A few days ago, Toria Demps (a former student and graduate of my business mentorship program) sent an email to her list, which I happen to be on. (One of the other things I stressed the importance of to my students) The email's subject was, “She helped me make over 50K with custom wig making❣️”.

I couldn't help but think back to when I first met Toria in 2014. You see, she was unable to attend the previous events because she is a military spouse, and there was something that happened with her Husband having to get stationed somewhere, or maybe it was a move; either way, she wasn't able to make it.

I Helped Her Make Over $50K With Custom Wigmaking 9

I always tell students they make it to the event they are supposed to be at. The reason why that's a crucial part of her story because at the event she was finally able to attend in 2014, she joined my Mentorship Program, which was the catalyst to helping her understand how to make money with custom wigmaking.

Had she attended any earlier, she wouldn't have been able to join because it wasn't something I offered at the previous events. This was God! Let me share a snippet of Toria's email…

Soooo, back in 2014 when I finally was able to attend a 2 day event in Charleston, South Carolina on lace wig making, near the end on the second day, I sat there wondering what was next…

And then it happened, an opportunity for mentorship was offered!

Sitting on a business degree but having no idea where to start, I jumped at the offer with no hesitation despite the cost. Long story short, I kept investing in different offers over time until I had to stop. (More on this later) All of that to say how things came back full circle over the course of my first few years in business.

Marquetta Breslin (who taught the event in Charleston and became my mentor) helped me grow my baby business in ways I had never imagined. Through referrals, social media mentions, podcasts interviews and so much more, I made well over 50K.

But God!!!

…if you are ready, you need to take her next class. If you feel like you are not ready, you DEFINITELY need to take her next upcoming class!  Click here to get in NOW while you still can!

Since Toria trained with me, she has assisted me at my Lace Wig Events.

I Helped Her Make Over $50K With Custom Wigmaking 10

Toria has also taught inside the Lace Wig Training System.

I Helped Her Make Over $50K With Custom Wigmaking 11

And she is a fantastic wigmaker and Teacher.

I Helped Her Make Over $50K With Custom Wigmaking 12

The thing that separates Toria and some of my other successful students is the fact that they IMPLEMENT

Giving advice is one thing, but if the individual doesn't implement it, it's simple…nothing happens.

You can't grow in business being stagnant. You have to be willing to do the work. Toria has always been willing to do the work, so she reaped the rewards. I'm so proud of her!

Toris is making a shift into the business world to do the work she's been assigned. If you haven't, be sure to follow her on all social media platforms. She provides unique content and is an all-around fantastic person.

Stay tuned; Toria and I will be getting together very soon to do a LIVE.

Let me leave you with this…

ALWAYS bet on and invest in yourself, come with open arms, IMPLEMENT and NEVER STOP LEARNING.

She Ventilated An Entire Lace Frontal In 2 Days 😲 13

She Ventilated An Entire Lace Frontal In 2 Days 😲

Say it “ain't” so! In an interview with one of my students Marquetta Bullard shared with us that it only took her two days to ventilate an entire lace frontal!

The question I get asked a lot is, “Can I ventilate faster if I practice?”

The answer is yes, you actually can. A few years ago, I had a conversation with someone who shared with me that he personally knows a woman who can ventilate double the speed of everyone else he's seen.

I've seen several people who ventilate super fast, and in all honesty, the more you ventilate, the faster you're going to get.

In a recent interview, I interviewed one of my students' Marquetta Bullard, who shared that she ventilated an entire frontal in just two days! That's super fast.

Later in the interview, she shared that she's spent a lot of time ventilating since she had to shut her salon down for virtual learning. You can watch the full video below

Not only is she able to still generate income after having to close her salon, but she's also super-efficient by increasing her speed!

There are a ton of people who are starting to learn how to ventilate, do repairs, and make lace wigs, closures, frontals, and more for various reasons. If you've ever wanted to learn this skill, now is the time.

Registration is open for my 1-Day Virtual Lace Wig Bootcamp, and it's going to be a game-changer for you like it has already been for hundreds of new students!

What Is A Lace Front Wig

A Beginner’s Guide to Wearing and Caring for a Lace Front Wig

If you’re in the market for a new wig, you’ll find no shortage of options! This can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. When you have the right information, choosing a wig doesn’t have to be so stressful. Here is a simple guide answering the question, “What is a lace front wig?” to help you determine if it is the best choice for your needs.

Benefits of Choosing a Lace Front Wig

Lace front wigs are a popular choice for synthetic and natural hair wigs. Unlike some wigs that have an attached wig cap, these wigs have a lace cap that will cover your head under the hair of the wig. These wigs are popular because they look natural. Lace wigs are breathable, making them a lot more comfortable than traditional wigs. This means you can wear your wig for an extended period of time without getting a headache.

If you have bald patches or a thinning scalp, lace front wigs are a great option. The lace in the cap will imitate the appearance of a natural hairline. If you have plentiful hair but you just want to want something different than your natural hair, you won’t have to worry about a lace front wig harming your real hair. This is different from other types of hair extensions or wigs such as sew-in extensions that can potentially damage your natural hair due to improper installation.

Caring for a Natural Hair Wig with Lace Front

Lace front wigs are long-lasting. As long as you’re properly caring for your wigs, you should be able to get your wig to last for up to a year.

Just like your own hair needs some regular TLC, your wigs need proper care. Try to avoid sleeping in your wigs. The best way to store them when you aren’t using them is to put them on mannequin heads. If your lace front wig has been sewn in or installed using adhesives, buy a scarf or silk bonnet and wear it while you sleep. This will protect the hair.

When it comes to washing your real hair lace front wig, use gentle shampoos and conditioners that are free of sulfates and any harsh detergents. You will also want to avoid over-washing your wigs. Only cleanse them once or twice a month depending on how frequently you wear the wig. If you’re going to use heat styling products, always use a heat protectant. Try to avoid styling creams or oils that are too heavy and will weigh the hair down.

Versatile Application Options

There are three main ways that people choose to wear lace front wigs: with tape, glue, or elastic bands. No matter what method you use to apply the wig, it’s best to clean your scalp first. You will also need to find a way to conceal your own hair. The best way to do this is by braiding your hair into cornrows. This will also help protect your natural edges from becoming damaged if you’re using glue.

Applying with Elastic Bands

If you’re using an elastic band, position the wig on your head and find what is a lace front wig’s best fit for you. You can tighten or loosen the elastic band to make the wig secure but not uncomfortable. Once you’ve found the right fit, secure the wig using some clips and trim away any excess lace. This will ensure that your lace front wig looks as natural as possible.

Applying with Glue

If you choose to install your wig with glue, make sure you buy glue that is specifically designed for lace front wigs. It’s also a good idea to make sure you aren’t allergic to any of the ingredients in the wig glue. You can do this by applying a small amount to your skin before you actually use it on your wig. Monitor the place you applied the glue for any irritation. If nothing happens, it should be safe for you to use the glue for applying your wig.

You will need to apply the glue on your forehead close to your hairline. Spread the glue around, but avoid getting it in your actual hair. Applying a second layer of glue will maximize the wig’s adhesion. Some people even apply three layers!

You will want to use a hairdryer after each layer until the glue is clear and tacky to the touch all across your hairline. You shouldn’t apply your wig while the glue is still wet. You should also avoid applying the glue too far down your forehead. The further down you apply the glue, the further down the wig will have to be placed. This will make it look like you have a small forehead and could also reveal that you are actually wearing a wig.

Now is the time to actually apply the wig. The goal is to make your natural hairline and the edge of the lace match up. It’s very important that you are happy with how the wig is positioned before you start to press it into the glue as the glue is strong and meant to make it difficult for the wig to come off. Lastly, trim the lace to the appropriate length. A bonus tip is to apply a little concealer or foundation right up against the hairline to blend the wig with your own hair even more seamlessly. Once you’ve applied your wig, you can style it however you want.

“I Survived COVID-19!”

Aww man, I was so shocked yesterday as I read a Facebook post from Erica Hughey Aker, a former student who graduated from multiple programs with me. In her post, Erica talked about her experience with COVID-19 and how she's now on the other side of it.

😷I survived Covid-19! It was an experience I NEVER want to go through again! It started off as a mild cough. It…

Posted by Erica Hughey Aker on Sunday, October 4, 2020

After I finished reading about her experience, I laid in bed for a while and thought about how much of a crazy year this has been for all of us. Our local government mandated that we quarantine, we've had to deal with multiple issues of death, racial injustice, loneliness, fear, depression, doubt, worry, anger, and so much more.

Aside from all of that, there have been some positives. Several industries are actively addressing and fixing racial injustices head-on. Businesses have been birthed; businesses have flourished, families are spending more time together, people are becoming more productive, and so on.

I think we can all agree that 2020 will go down in history as a year that no one living, no matter how old you are, has ever experienced.

Today, I encourage you to reflect on the positives from this year and do these two things…

  1. Write down all that you've learned this year. It's easy to reflect on the negatives, but what have you learned this year about yourself and others?
  2. Write down how you plan to finish this year strong. I have a list of things I want to accomplish with the three months left this year, and I'm creating the environment to help me achieve that. What are you planning to do this year to finish strong?

There are still three months left in 2020, you can either take the bull by the horns and finish strong, or you can sit and do nothing.

Finish strong and walk into 2021 with your head held high, ready for what life throws your way!

Happy Monday.

Why 90% Of Hair Extensions Comes From India

https://www.instagram.com/accounts/login/

There have been so many misconceptions and misinformation out about where hair from hair extensions come from. So let me break it down for you.
Each day there are tons of hair donated at multiple different temples in India. The biggest temples are in Southern India, and this is where a majority of the hair comes from.

The hair is then bid on and sold online to the different factories that have the proper licensing to purchase the hair. Once the hair is purchased, it's handled multiple different ways depending on the manufacturer.

It's important to understand that not all Indian hair is virgin. Some women who donate have colored or chemically altered their hair. That hair is separated at the factory level.

That hair is then hackled and prepared to be sold to China. It's purchased by the ton. Once the hair is in China, they have their own methods of processing the hair for their tiered grading system (11A, 7A, etc.).

Some of the terms like Cambodian, Mongolian, etc. are marketing terms used to sell hair. There are very few people in other countries who donate or sell their hair for manufacturing.

Be sure to do your research before purchasing hair thoroughly. You want to make sure you're getting quality hair for the price.

Stay tuned for more information like this about the extension market.
