It’s also important to understand that though there are many different types to choose from, that doesn’t mean all are worth wearing. If it is your first time to buy a wig, there are a couple of things to keep in mind.

What Is A Lace Wig?

Lace wigs or lace front wigs are specially made to mimic the appearance and texture of human hair. The type of hair can either be synthetic or human hair, but both often can pass as natural hair on the user. It is the best most cost effective natural looking wig types, as it will appear to be attached to your scalp. How it looks this way is through the hair being tied by hand onto sheer lace. Most that are used for professional purposes are often lace front due to the realistic nature of them. However, despite this fact, it’s still vital to choose wisely when shopping for one.

Tips On Finding The Best For Your Face Shape

A wig can be very costly the more realistic and stylish they become. One made of human hair can cost anywhere from $400 up to $5,000 with the prices depending on many variables. Fortunately, there are quite a lot of high quality synthetic wigs that will cost much less. It is very much possible to get a quality wig under $100. You just have to be willing to put in the research and time to compare various types on the market. With that being said, synthetic wigs, with proper care can hold it’s style for life. Human hair when cared for can last for a few years. When you’ve established your budget, you will have a better understanding on what kind of wig you can look at and those that you can rule out.

Along with budget, you should also put into consideration where to get your wig. Most are readily available at your local beauty supply store or hair vendors. They will come pre-styled, often synthetic based, and made with a one-size-fits-all stretchable laced material. These are easily adjustable and will sculpt to your head when put on properly. The nice thing about a ready made lace wig is that you will get it at a set price that's often cost effective. The budget friendly quality ones will range anywhere from $20 up to $400. Length, color, and style all vary, with the various options can feel a bit overwhelming at first.

Having an idea of what you want can help save time when shopping for one, some hair stores will also have a testing prototype of certain wigs to try on with a wig cap to give you an idea of how it would look on you. Although buying online is a possibility, some times the ones that are surely to fit and look best on you will be quite costly. An affordable wig is often a hit or miss when purchased online, so do consider investing a bit more money on quality if you plan on shopping online for one.

For the most realistic look, the wig should have a lace cap constructed within it. This will also provide ventilation for your scalp along with enabling you to part the hair how you please. This is the type of wig for those who have a bit of hair left, or none at all. Price can vary starting usually around $200 and can be sold at up to $5,000.

How To Maintain A Lace Wig

Just like with hair extensions or your real hair, taking proper care of a wig is vital. However, unlike natural hair or extensions, with a wig, there are a couple factors that you must keep in mind in order to preserve the unit's life and quality. Be sure to take off the wig whenever you do not need to wear them, and store on a mannequin head. Proper storage will ensure it does not lose its shape by maintaining its elasticity.

Furthermore, washing the wig with sulfate free shampoo and conditioner is the best way to get rid of any germs without ruining the hair. The natural oils that the scalp produces does transfer to the wig, but unlike the the scalp, those oils don't produce naturally from a wig. That is why you should never use products that are meant for balancing out oils in humans scalps rather go for sulfate free instead. They will feel like a gentle cleanser and will maintain the integrity of the wig altogether.

Rule of thumb when washing your wig is at least once a month. This is the bare minimum and is only recommended if you do not use it very often. For daily use on the other hand, twice a month is necessary. Washing it too much can be detrimental to the individual strands of the wig, resulting in its shorter lifespan. If your wig is made out of synthetic, it is crucial to never apply direct heat, as they will not withstand the temperature. If you wish to curl the hair, using rollers instead and product will have to be your best option.

How To Put On A Lace Front Wig

In order to make any wig look natural, you must have a wig cap. No matter how natural looking a wig may be, if your natural hair color even slightly seeps out, it will not look its best. Once you have the wig cap on, be sure to tug the wig down a bit lower than wear your forehead starts. Most people who have never worn a wig before will think the lace should be wear the hairline is at, but this will only emphasize the area. Doing this will also make it easy for the wig to ride backwards, as it doesn't have much to hold on top. Bringing the wig's lace at least half an inch down will allow for it to appear more natural while also having it easily latching on to your forehead.

The level of confidence you will have when you get to wear a wig that brings back the look you're most comfortable in is impeccable. There is nothing a bit of gloss and a beautiful set of hair can't conquer through. Don't be afraid to try out different styles to see what best suits your personal style. The beauty in hair is that there are no limits or restrictions.
